Dr. Amit Patel Meets Minister of India

Dr. Amrit Patel, Past President of IACAW, met with the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, on Wednesday, November 25th 2009 in Washington D.C. Dr. Patel was invited by Mrs. Meera Shankar, the Indian Ambassador to the U.S., to attend a reception dinner with the Prime Minister. Dr. Patel was one of an elite group of more than 400 Indian community leaders and activists from all over the United States invited to this dinner. The reception dinner was organized by the Indian Ambassador to honor Prime Minister Singh who was visiting Washington D.C. on an official State Visit to the White House as a guest of President Barack Obama.

Dr. Patel notes that the reception dinner was exceptionally well organized. The Indian embassy’s staff provided excellent hospitality. The Prime Minster appreciated and thanked the leaders in attendance for their service to the Indian community within the U.S. and being partners with the Indian Embassy in building and strengthening Indo-US relations. The Prime Minister also briefly talked about his very successful, productive, fruitful and mutually beneficial meeting with the President Obama. Prime Minister Singh promised the invited guests that the Indian government will keep the doors wide open for Non-Resident-Indian’s from all over the world who wish to resettle in India or start their own business.

The Prime Minster met, shook hands and provided an opportunity to each and every invited guest to be photographed with him.
